Third and Fifth Grade Storybird

Third and Fifth Graders have been creating digital books using Storybird. After selecting art from the site they have written their own stories. Third graders learned how to storyboard and use the illustrations to inform the plot of their story. Fifth graders worked to create a book they can share with their first grade buddies. Students are also expanding their creative writing into poetry and collaborative stories.

You can read your student's stories as well as others in the class library on the Storybird website.

Welcome Back

We're happy to have all of our readers back in the library. So far this year all classes have been in for an orientation lesson to remind them the "lay of the land" in the library. Our Kindergarten classes have practiced checking out books for the first time while our first graders have ventured into the exciting world of checking out in the nonfiction section! Our fourth and fifth graders have worked together to rewrite the Acceptable Use Policy in more kid friendly language.

As the books are flying off the shelves Chomper, our resident book return monster, is filling up. If you'd like to volunteer in the library please email Ms Gorup. Check the volunteer tab to see the schedule. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

The Forecast Calls for Research

Second graders had an opportunity to try their hand at a more inquiry based research project. After brainstorming an impressive list of extreme weather conditions, they worked in pairs to develop questions about their topic. After using a variety of online resources they created a Show Me presentation using the Ipads. Click on the links below to listen to their reports.
