First Grade Reflections
Students in first grade reflected on what they've learned so far this year. They used Little Bird Tales to take a picture of their illustration and then record their reflection.
Kindergarten Verb Stories
After reading Steve Jenkins' book Move, Kindergarten students wrote verb stories of their own. They also practiced asking and answering a partner's question. They recorded their stories using the Little Bird Tales app.

Welcome Back
We're happy to have all of our readers back in the library. So far this year all classes have been in for an orientation lesson to remind them the "lay of the land" in the library. Our Kindergarten classes have practiced checking out books for the first time while our first graders have ventured into the exciting world of checking out in the nonfiction section! Our fourth and fifth graders have worked together to rewrite the Acceptable Use Policy in more kid friendly language.
As the books are flying off the shelves Chomper, our resident book return monster, is filling up. If you'd like to volunteer in the library please email Ms Gorup. Check the volunteer tab to see the schedule. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

The Forecast Calls for Research
Second graders had an opportunity to try their hand at a more inquiry based research project. After brainstorming an impressive list of extreme weather conditions, they worked in pairs to develop questions about their topic. After using a variety of online resources they created a Show Me presentation using the Ipads. Click on the links below to listen to their reports.

Music
Students in 3rd and 4th grade worked with Mrs. Demasio during music to write 8 beat nonsense phrases. Then they assigned rhythmic and melodic notation to their work. After illustrating their work they performed their original musical composition on various instruments and recorded it on Audioboo. Click on the links below to listen to their songs.

Second Grade Simile Portraits
After reading Crazy Like a Fox and learning about similes, second graders created simile portraits inspired by Haoch Piven's My Best Friend is as Sharp as a Pencil. Students used the Little Bird Tales app to photograph and record their simile stories.
